Our Australian Sailing program groups sailors by skill level, enhancing each individual’s ability while prioritising maximum enjoyment. The ‘Tackers’ program is designed for kids aged 7-12 and the ‘OutThere!’ Program is for ages 12 – 17.

Tackers 1 (2 for 1)
$400/Program FOR AGES 7 - 12
The perfect program to introduce kids aged 7 to 12 to the joys of sailing. We focus on building fundamental skill foundations and nurturing an enthusiasm for long-term participation.
Starting on 13th and 14th October
Every Friday: 4PM – 6PM (9 Sessions)
OR
Every Saturday: 8:30AM – 11:30PM (7 Sessions)
- Non-competitive, games-based and social
- Delivered by Professional Yachting Australia qualified instructors & Assistant Instructors

OutThere!
$330/program FOR AGES 12 - 17
The ultimate weekend program for teens aged 12-17 to dive into sailing and water sports, learning and progressing with excitement. And if you simply want to enjoy the sheer thrill of sailing for FUN, you’ve found your crew!
Every Saturday starting on 14th October:
Morning Session: 8:30AM – 11:30AM (7 Sessions)
OR
Afternoon Session: 12PM – 3PM (7 Sessions)
- No Experience, No Membership needed!
- Delivered by Professional Yachting Australia qualified instructors & Assistant Instructors
- Program Includes: Learning to sail a Hobie Wave Catarman and RS Quest Dinghy, Windsurfing, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding and more.
- Opportunity for special sailing events, social events, beach trips and a range of other on-water activity

What the day consist of
This School Term, Southport Yacht Club is offering Sailing programs for children from the ages of 7-17 no matter what their sailing abilities are.
The programs develop every individual’s sailing ability while the main focus is on maximum enjoyment! Our Yachting Australia certified instructors will be able to allocate the sailors in to appropriate groups to suit the different sailing abilities. The day consists of on water activities as well as off water activities

Do children need any prior sailing experience?
No prior sailing experience is necessary. Our classes are designed to teach children sailing skills from the basics, making it suitable for beginners and more experienced young sailors alike.
What should the children wear or bring to the sailing class?
Children should bring towels, sunscreen, appropriate swimwear, a rashie or swim shirt, and dry clothes. Additionally, pack a morning tea, lunch, and plenty of water to keep them nourished and hydrated throughout the class.!

How can I book a sailing class for my child?
To book a sailing class, visit our website and select the desired term and class type for your child. Book online quickly, as we have limited spots available. Follow the instructions to complete the booking, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the necessary details.
Are there specific classes for different skill levels, and how are they structured?
Yes, our sailing classes are tailored to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced sailors. During the School Holiday Sailing Program the children will learn the fundamental sailing techniques and safety rules, while more advanced classes are run under other programs available at SYC where will focus on honing skills and challenging students with more complex tasks and set them up for competitions.
