Congratulations to all the SYC Youth Sailors who recently competed in their division Nationals and Worlds over the past two weeks!
Eight (8) junior sailors competed at the Optimists National Titles held at Georges River 16ft Sailing Club in New South Wales. A massive congratulations to Ashleigh Swadling who finished an impressive first (1st) in the Open Fleet, and Torin Mitchell who finished 10th in the Green Fleet.
In the Bic ISAF World Cup held in Melbourne in early December, Tom Wright in a league of his own finishing first (1st), Melanie Watson finishing 17th and Dylan Lynch finishing in a strong fleet in the under 16’s. The World Open Cup held also in Melbourne, Tom Wright came an impressive fifth (5th) and Dylan Lynch 40th in the under 16’s. Louis Hitchings finished a well-earned 12th, Luka Whitbourn 48th and Tasman Rowe 51st in the under 13’s.
In the Sabot Nationals Mitchell Lees competed in Top Gear, finishing with a great result of 24th.
Well done to all who completed in these regattas, each youth sailors have completed with fantastic results and all at SYC look forward to seeing you back on Gold Coast for some more fun on the water soon!
