Our Achievements:
At SYC, our volunteers have achieved remarkable success in supporting our club’s endeavours. From hosting prestigious regattas and races to facilitating youth sailing programs and community outreach initiatives, our volunteers play a pivotal role in shaping the club’s vibrant atmosphere and positive reputation.
In 2023 alone, our volunteers collectively devoted over 1,300 hours to supporting SYC events and activities, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to our club’s mission and values. We’re proud to introduce the Volunteer Firefly initiative, recognizing and rewarding our volunteers’ dedication. Through this initiative, volunteers can log their hours on the Volunteer Firefly app/website and earn rewards for their hard work, including discounts and gift cards.
Training and Development Opportunities:
SYC is committed to the growth and development of our volunteers. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. Our training programs cover various aspects of race management, safety procedures, first aid, and more.
New volunteers will be paired with experienced mentors who will provide guidance and support as they learn the ropes. We encourage volunteers to explore different roles within the club and offer opportunities for advancement.
Volunteer Roles:
SYC offers diverse volunteer roles to suit a range of interests and expertise. Whether you’re passionate about on-water support, event coordination, hospitality, or administrative tasks, there’s a role for you at SYC.
– On-Water Support: Whether support boat skipper or crew theses volunteers assist with race management, course setup, safety operations, and on-water support during events and races.
– Race Management: Help organize and coordinate club events, races and regattas to ensure smooth and successful execution by timekeeping, scribing and flag bearing.
