SYC High Achieving Sailors Recognition Evening 2018
My name is Oscar Gray and I’m 12 years old.
At the moment, I sail an Open Bic. I first started sailing on and off on Sundays with the Fun Sail Program, at 6 years old. When I was 10 years old I decided to progress to the next stage, as I found sailing fun. Completing my Junior Basic Learn to Sail Course in an Opti. I tried an Open Bic one day and loved how fast it went and I didn’t need to bail water out of the boat. This was the boat for me and I still enjoy sailing it and hope I don’t grow out of it too soon. I have spent 2016 up to April 2017 in green fleet, where I have learnt so much. I was happy when I was asked to join the performance team. This is now the beginning of my journey with the performance team and I’m looking forward to learning how to improve my sailing and participating in regattas. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be coached and part of a team environment, of other young individuals who love sailing. Oscar Gray
