Southport Yacht Club Vessels to compete in the 32nd Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race
A strong fleet of 57 yachts will be racing in the Annual 384-nautical mile Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. 2017 will host three (3) Southport Yacht Club (SYC) vessels competing in the event including Rod West’s Bavaria 42 Painkiller OP, Phil Bell’s Olsen 40 She and the newly launched TP52 Fifty-Two Hundred, skippered by owner Michael Spies.
Two RP100 super maxi’s will make up the 57 entrants, with current race record holder The Oatley Family’s Wild Oats XI skippered by Mark Richards and Peter Harburg’s new Black Jack entrant skippered by Mark Bradford for the first time within the annual ocean race.
The race starts on Sydney Harbour at 1300 on Saturday 29th July 2017.
The first boats in the fleet are expected to arrive sometime on Sunday, depending on the weather conditions, updates will be emailed throughout the event.
Southport Yacht Club will be hosting the finish of the race.
