Held at Lake Cootharaba over the Easter long weekend, Southport Yacht Club sailors Chris Noyes and Joe Sabin competed against Queensland’s finest catamaran sailors to be crowned the 2016 Queensland F18 State Title Champions.
Racing began on Friday 25th and concluded on Saturday 26th. Although three days of racing where scheduled, day three scheduled for Sunday 26th March was called off due to a band of storms moving over the course.
“It was an awesome weekend with light conditions which tested the tactical side of our racing. And even though there was not big fleets with the level of sailing present both me and Chris are very happy to have done as well as we did. It was good close racing and had us all pushing hard. After this weekend I am very keen to head back up to the lake after Christmas for the nationals where we are expecting some good competition” said Joe.
Upon their return from their tremendous win, Southport Yacht Club look forward to seeing Chris and Joe back home training on the Gold Coast waters.
