THIS WEEK @ OXENFORD WATERSPORT CENTRE AND SQUAD UPDATE
Southport Yacht Club recently hosted a sensational “Summer on the Lake” event at Oxenford Watersports Centre that brought together sailing novices, music lovers, and families for a day of sun-soaked fun. With over 900 participants hitting the water, the event proved to be a highlight of the year at the lake, offering an exhilarating and unique experience for all who attended.
The event was not just about sailing; it was a celebration of community spirit, and all that our club has to offer. It was pleasing to see people come off the water and register for sailing courses to continue their sailing journey after getting a taste for it. Sailing is a unique sport being equal parts social, physical and mentally challenging. The event is the largest of its kind in Australia which supports our club in being recognised as the premier Yacht Club internationally.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of the event sponsors. Councillor William Owen-Jones, whose dedication to community initiatives is well-known, played a pivotal role in making the event a reality. The NUCRUSH GROUP. Australian Sailing, a recognized authority in the sailing community, and Short Marine, a trusted name in marine services, also joined hands as sponsors, emphasizing the importance of promoting water sports and recreational boating.
