THIS WEEK @ OXENFORD WATERSPORT CENTRE AND SQUAD UPDATE

Uni Games Nationals

Last month Oxenford SYC hosted the 2023 Uni Games Nationals. This was a Teams Sailing Event that saw universities from NSW, VIC & TAS competing for glory on the water. Team TAS were defending their title as the reigning champs and finished up this three-day competition in the top spot again as the 2023 champs.

It was a terrific event that showcased strategic sailing on our little lake in all its shifty glory (gotta love those shifty winds that we’ve all had to deal with!).

It was great to watch and I was lucky to be a part of it all. But it did make me realise how lucky we are to have the facility and the opportunity to get down there and sail/learn to sail and to see it being used in competition.

Can’t wait to get off the RIB and back under sail. Hope to catch you all down there again soon. – by Mike Latter

Female Youth Sailing Results

A huge congratulations to all of the SYC female youth sailors who competed in the recent Opti State Championships, at Humpybong, and to their coach Grace Murphy.

Last Chance! Adult Learn to Sail at Oxenford Lake

If you want to learn how to sail, join us at Oxenford Watersports Centre for our next Adult Learn to Sail (Dinghy Beginners) course gaining a Certificate 1 & 2: Start Dinghy Sailing. No Experience required!

3 Sessions – Sundays 9:00am to 3:00pm

October 22nd, 29th, Nov 5th

$400 per person

Ages 16+

You will be taken through theory and on-water activities that give you the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to sail a wind-driven boat. You will also be taken through the pathways to progress into larger boats and options available to you once the course is completed.

October She Sails

Out She Sails program at Oxenford has been developed to provide pathways and opportunities beyond Oxenford sailing to be across all SYC venues. Thank you to everyone who has participated or volunteered over the last year while we have been building this fantastic event, without you this program wouldn’t be the success it is today.

The next event is on Sunday 22^nd October from Noon-3pm
