CHANNEL 9 is DOING FOLLOW UP STORY on MARITIMO RACING

Great to have our friends from Channel 9 doing a follow-up story on ‘Maritimo Racing’ with SYC sailors Michael Spies and Addison Newlan yesterday. There was even a break in the weather so they could enjoy a sail on our fabulous Broadwater 😊

LADIES RACE is RESCHEDULED on the 25th JUNE 2023

Unfortunately the weather conditions were not kind last Saturday and the annual Ladies Day race had now been rescheduled to Sunday 25^th June.

We hope to see as many lady skippers as possible joining us for this fantastic event.

AWAY REGATTA

Term 2 Begins!

This week SYC Oxenford has had a lot happening. Term 2 sailing programs began, our Free Sail and Discover Sailing Day ran on Saturday and on Sunday our monthly She Sails event was on. The wind arrived early in the week and has stayed with us, giving sailors the experience of learning and sailing in stronger gusty wind conditions. Despite initial nerves and trepidation, a lot of fun was had by everyone.

SAILOR of the WEEK

Congratulations to Hugo Woods who is our sailor of the week. He is a great student who is always positive, energetic and excited to go sailing. Hugo came through the Tackers program at SYC Oxenford and participates in the school holiday program to improve his skills and help others learn the ropes. He actively asks questions and follows directions and guidance from instructors which has played a key role in seeing him progress and improve. This term Hugo is transitioning from an Opti to the Bic class at Hollywell. This can be a big step for young sailors as the Bic feels more unstable. Moving over can take time and we wish Hugo all the best as his new sailing adventure begins. Well done Hugo!
