MENTORS IN TRAINING
Part of what we do at Oxenford is paving the pathway for our sailors in the mentorship program, giving them the skills and practice to not only be competent sailors, but also great at teaching and instructing and guiding their peers! Over the last few weeks, all of our mentors have sat in on progression meetings to set goals, but have also helped us immensely by developing new teaching resources and worksheets for all our sailing programs.
SHE SAILS CHRISTMAS PARTY
Ladies, there’s something for you too! Don’t let the heat get the better of you this Summer and come learn to sail! The team at Oxenford Watersports Centre were amazed at the stellar turnout of our last event, with around 20 ladies of all different walks of life, giving sailing a go. Don’t let your sail experience (or lack-thereof) get in the way of coming along to a She Sails event. Whether you’ve never jumped aboard a boat before or you’re quite the fair weathered sailor yourself….there’s always fun to be had on the water! Our last She Sails event for the year is running on Saturday the 17th of December from 12pm-3pm. In the spirit of Christmas, ladies come dressed as festive and cheerful as you wish and join us for a beverage and nibbles after.
There are only limited numbers aboard. We strongly recommend registering online prior to the date to secure your booking to avoid missing out in 2022!
SAILOR OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to Jonah Parry who has been selected as Sailor of the week.
Jonah sails at SYC Hollywell on his 29er and since completing his instructor course, has volunteered regularly to learn about how the team and venue at SYC Oxenford operates.
Jonah has demonstrated a pro-active and positive attitude and is willing to put the hard work in to be a great asset to the team and Southport Yacht Club as an instructor and team member. Well done Jonah.
Jonah receiving an award by ABS Sponsor and receiving The Kellond-Knight Award in 2021 and sailing with his fellow crew member on his 29er!
