Southport Yacht Club Inc had wind in its sails at last night’s Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence, securing awards for Best Club Innovation and the Young Manager Encouragement Award.
Over 1100 guests from across the State attended the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre event to see Southport Yacht Club Inc take out the innovation award for their world first, exclusive waterscape pontoon bar.
The 10 metre square floating pontoon is moored just off the clubhouse at Main Beach and certainly has member and locals talking with its custom designed bar and opulent ambience attracting plenty of clientele, presenting an Australian first in event facilities.
Marketing Manager, Bronwen Hemmings, boasts nine years industry experience, and more recently has expanded her formal qualifications by completing a Bachelor of Business degree. Bronwen always has the best possible outcome for the club front of mind, having played a pivotal role in securing major corporate sponsors for large events, whilst always displaying the highest level of professionalism.
Clubs Queensland Chief Executive Officer Doug Flockhart congratulated Southport Yacht Club Inc on their awards success and out of the box thinking.“Delivering a world first and world class customised floating functions space is certainly a new innovation for clubland,” Mr Flockhart said.“Its great to see clubs looking to expand, do things differently and truly innovate to ensure ongoing currency, appeal and new clientele.”
Mr Flockhart also congratulated Bronwen on her individual excellence, commenting, “the community club sector creates great opportunities for young people and it is pleasing to see so many of them choosing to make a career in this industry.”
The Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence celebrates the collective and individual achievements by this vibrant $1.9 billion industry.
