Southport Yacht Club wins Club’s Queensland Best Sports Club 2018
With the 2018 Commonwealth Games less than a month away, the Gold Coast has already brought home gold winning eight awards at last night’s Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence.
Over 1000 guests from across the State attended the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre to see the region take home a number of awards, including Southport Yacht Club Inc winning Best Sports Club.
Clubs Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Doug Flockhart, congratulated the Gold Coast clubs on their multiple awards success.
“It’s wonderful to see so many Gold Coast clubs performing strongly and reinvesting heavily in their local community,” Mr Flockhart said.
The Southport Yacht Club Inc took home the highly sought-after award for Best Sports Club which recognises a club that concentrates their core business on one sport.
“The club is known world-wide for its exceptional sailing and power boat fraternities, impressive facilities and great location,” Mr Flockhart said.
Commodore Kerry Noyes and Sailing Operations Manager Simon Turpin accepted the award on behalf of the Club.
