Four 100ft Super Maxi Yachts head to the Gold Coast in the 33rd Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race
A strong fleet of 55 yachts will be racing in the Annual 384-nautical mile Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. 2018 will host four (4) 100ft super maxi’s. Current race record holder The Oatley Family’s Wild Oats XI skippered by Mark Richards, Jim Cooney’s Comanche, Christian Beck’s InfoTrack and Queensland’s Black Jack, skippered by Mark Bradford.
Southport Yacht Club (SYC) will be represented by Rod West and crew on board his Beneteau 44.7, Another Painkiller. This will be Another Painkiller’s second ocean race skippered by owner Rod West. “After competing in this ocean race on numerous occasions, it is always exciting for myself and the crew to race home, with the warmer weather and exceptional welcome from the team at SYC, there isn’t another race like it,” said owner/skipper Rod West.
The race starts on Sydney Harbour at 1300 on Saturday 28th July 2018.
The first boats in the fleet are expected to arrive sometime on Sunday, depending on the weather conditions, updates will be emailed throughout the event.
Southport Yacht Club will be hosting the finish of the race.
