LAST WEEK AT HOLLYWELL

Wonders of the Wharf Education Program

We had a great educational day here last Saturday, with The Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre hosting the “Wonders of the Wharf Program”.

The teachers and students from the QAHS enjoyed the day immensely, achieving valuable learning outcomes for their students.

Their Mission:

“To identify marine organisms growing on our floating pontoons – critters like Bryozoans, Tunicates, Algae and Limpets.

Student had high magnification microscopes for identification and a number of other pieces of sampling equipment, to learn about the chemical and physical aspects of the water that these creatures are found in.

Southport State High – Learn to Sail Program

We welcomed the students and teachers to the Sailing Club last Wednesday and Friday for their regular “Learn to Sail” Program.

The groups was lucky to have a day of smooth sailing in lovely conditions – there were approx. 40 students all up, who undertook both theory and practical sailing skills.
