SYC SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMS
Do the “Dump and Run”!
Intro to Sailing for ages 7-17! | No experience required! | Fun, Easy and Safe! | Qualified Instructors
We cater to all children from the ages of 7 – 17 no matter what their sailing abilities are (so that includes those grotty teenage boys hibernating in their rooms on their devices – get em out!)
Our Australian Sailing certified instructors will be able to allocate the sailors into appropriate groups to suit the different sailing abilities.
The program develops every individual’s sailing ability while the main focus is on maximum enjoyment!

BRIDGE TO BREAKERS REGATTA
Big River Sailing Club Harwood Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th November
Well done to our SYC Representatives – Belinda OKeefe | David Vincent | Emma Hutcheson | Kelvin Holdt | Nigel Lawrence | Jabin Crisp
Big River Sailing Club held their annual “Bridge to Breakers” race from Harwood to Iluka and back last Saturday. A stiff NorEaster was a challenge but nothing like last years wipeout according to the organisers – with only one broken mast.
All reports was that is was a great day with great company.
It seems Kelvin Holdt has a hidden talent …… that’s awesome Kelvin – we’re a bit short of F&B resources at Main Beach……………:) – what a stunning location.

THIS WEEK @ OXENFORD WATERSPORT CENTRE AND SQUAD UPDATE
Update provided by Michaela Hanson & Jasmin Ruck
Sail-abrate the good times!
This week we sail-abrate the participants on our recent She Sails event held on Saturday 19th November from 12-3pm. We welcomed 18 females of all ages and abilities who joined our female only instructors and mentors. The session began with a meet and greet, introductory sailing theory and tips followed sailing four up on our Hobie Wave Catamarans and a social drink with nibbles afterwards.
The She Sails program is the perfect way to become competent in sailing alone on a hobie catamaran so that you feel confident to come and hire a boat with friends or progress to one of our other learn to sail programs. She Sails is open to any females aged 14+ who may or may not have tried sailing before.
If you think this might be something you are interested in doing, register now for our Christmas She Sails on Saturday 17th December from 12-3pm by clicking on the link below. Join us for some festive fun on the water!

Awesome Customer Feedback
Last Saturday afternoon I attempted sailing for the very first time at the Southport Yacht Club on Regatta Lake. Was a little daunting but with some expert advice and tuition from the crew, Caela, Jaz, Mick, Teagan and Gabby we were feeling like pros in no time. Loved the feeling you get when sailing.. We were well looked after, both on and off the water with some lovely refreshments and conversation afterwards. Thanks again – I’ll Be Back – Regards, Maree Skiller
Valued Volunteers
Every organisation benefits from volunteers of all ages.
At SYC Oxenford we are fortunate to have a group of junior sailing mentors and their parents who all play important roles in helping the venue and our programs run smoothly.
This week we welcomed a new adult volunteer into our family at Oxenford, Michael Latter.
Michael brings a wealth of experience as a parent of two junior sailors and as someone who has been an active volunteer in other sporting organisations. Welcome to the team!
Sailor of the Week
This week we congratulate and celebrate Yifei Steadman as Sailor of the Week.
Yifei has shown determination and inner strength by persisting with gaining skills and knowledge to complete the Tackers program. It hasn’t been smooth sailing, Yifei has had to return to repeat and complete sailing classes in order to achieve her competency and certificates.
Well done Yifei, we look forward to supporting you and sharing your sailing journey, wherever it takes you from here.
