Evolution Sails pulled out all stops this weekend sponsoring both the Two Handed Race on Saturday and the Dinghy Marathon Trophy Race on Sunday. Great effort by Caedric, Joel and the Team – THANK YOU!!

Dinghy Marathon Trophy Race

To say we are proud of our dinghy sailors is an understatement, over 2 hours of racing with some of our youngest in the fleet, in their first-ever trip around Crab Island – what a Marathon!

The weather looked like it was going to hold but unfortunately, the skies turned. We managed to get all the sailors in safely before the storm, even though some of them didn’t want to give up (they were having a ball!!).

We wanted to get everyone in and home safe so the presentation of the event will be held this Sunday, 19^th March after Champs racing.

2023 OCEANIA & AUSTRALIAN LASER MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2023 Oceania & Australian Laser Masters Championships were held from 10th-13th March 2023, at Bay Sailing Centre Soldiers Point Port Stephens, NSW, Australia

Our very own Dinghy Rep – Stuart Waters flying the SYC Flag at the Laser Masters this weekend, with 150 boats in attendance. Stu, you have done our Senior Sailors proud.

BRISBANE WOMEN’S KEELBOAT CUP

Congratulations to our very own Reception Superstar, Jess Greenwood who Skippered ‘Arctic Blonde’ to an impressive 4^th overall in the Brisbane Women’s Keelboat Cup at Royal Queensland last weekend – Fantastic Sailing!!.

THIS WEEK @ OXENFORD WATERSPORT CENTRE AND SQUAD UPDATE

As Term 1 heads to a close, SYC Oxenford is preparing for a big final week of youth sailing courses on Saturday 18th March. Each participant has been given the opportunity to bring a friend to try sailing for free and see how much fun it can be. Free sailing (1 hour per participant) has become a weekly activity every Saturday and we are only able to offer this because of the superb group of SYC sailing mentors that volunteer their time in the leadership program. By running the free sailing, they have the opportunity to show and talk to other youth about their passion for sailing whilst developing interpersonal skills. Thank you SYC Mentor team, we appreciate all you do!

School Holiday Sailing

Beginning Monday 3rd until Friday 14th April, SYC Oxenford is running fun school holiday sailing sessions for youth ages 7-17yrs. Come for half a day (9am-noon) for $40 or a full day (9am-3pm) for $80. Session activities include sailing, beach games and stand-up paddle boarding. Register below:

SAILOR OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Jackson Lawrence who came to SYC Oxenford to show our youth mentors and Out There Sailing participants how to sail a Nacra catamaran. Jackson sails at SYC in the OTB Catamarans. Thank you Jackson for your time and enthusiasm, the youth loved the experience.
