Congratulations to Junior Sailor, Nate McCarthy coming an impressive 1^st in the Optimist division at the annual ’Head of the River’ Regatta at the Maroochy Sailing Club last weekend.

THIS WEEK @ OXENFORD WATERSPORT CENTRE AND SQUAD UPDATE

EASTER BREAK: Please note we are closed from 3pm on Thursday 6th April until 9am on Tuesday 11th April.

Last weekend we held our first Adult Learn to Sail Intermediate course at SYC Oxenford. Running on three consecutive days, the 12 participants learnt how to sail backwards, come alongside, hold position on a mark, multiple boat towing, roll tack & gybe, use a spinnaker and begin racing techniques and tactics. Everyone had a fantastic attitude despite the light winds on the first two days tested the sailors’ skills, and on the last day, the wind gods delivered just enough wind to practise everything learnt. Thank you to the participants, volunteers and staff for a successful three days.

!Coming Soon! Adult Social Sailing

With increasing numbers of adult learners coming through the Dinghy and She Sails programs and demand for ongoing sailing opportunities, SYC Oxenford will be introducing Adult Social Sailing from the end of April on either a Friday or Sunday afternoon. This is a great way to bring like-minded people together whilst helping sailors maintain and develop the skills they have learnt. School Holiday Program

During these school holidays, SYC Oxenford is once again holding half or full-day sailing activities for youth aged 7-17 years. SAILOR of the WEEK

Congratulations to Madison Murat who is a sailor of the week! Madison is a bic sailor who learnt to sail at Paradise Point before taking a few private lessons at SYC and joining the junior fleet and squad on the weekend. Madison has a great attitude to learning, she always has a smile on her face and is easily recognisable in her bright pink helmet. Well done Madison!
