My performance journey:
I first joined the Performance Program at the start of 2017 in my O’pen Bic ‘Instead of a Pony’, except I wasn’t sailing a lot until recently this year. Before joining the team I had been
sailing in my O’pen Bic for a couple of years.
The Performance Teams training sessions are fantastic with amazing coaches and every single session your guaranteed to learn something new! What I love about the team is that its like a big family, everyone looks out for each other and helps each other the best they can.
After a month of getting back on the water, I travelled up to Yeppoon for the QLD Youth Camp and Champs where I came 5th overall in my Bic.
Next term I’m looking forward to improving my sailing knowledge and skills as well as aiming to improve on my race starts.
It seems that with sailing there is always room for improvement and always something new to learn. The amount of things I’ve learnt in the past month or so is to much to name. Not only have I learnt things based on the water but I’ve learnt important skills on land, such as sportsmanship as well as important life lessons.
