My sailing journey
My name is Jack. I first started sailing in x3’s in the Sunday morning fun sail. I really enjoyed sailing and progressed to the Opti class where I sailed for 5 years. I went a couple of regattas including the states in Mooloolaba and the nationals at Mornington peninsula. When I became too heavy for the Opti I went looking for a type of boat. I went into a Flying 11 for a year but a 2up boat isn’t for me. I then started in the Laser class sailing 4.7 for a year and then progressed into the radials. Today I still sail Lasers and am training for the Laser nationals at the end of the year. I previously came back from Yeppoon and Youth week.
I am still unsure of where I want to go with my sailing. I am happy just racing at a club level. I enjoy sailing because of the sense of freedom that it brings where it is just you, a boat and the whole ocean.
