As day five concludes at the 2015 470 National Championships, Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan, are once again crowned the 470 Australian National Champions.
‘I was ecstatic to be competing at my home Club for the 2015 470 National Championships, and to win the event made it even more special to me. It is always great to sail on the Gold Coast, and to showcase these type of conditions to my fellow competitors was fantastic’, said Mathew.
The 2015 470 Nationals conducted 5 days of racing with a jam packed schedule of 12 races, from Southport Yacht Club’s Hollywell Sailing Squadron. A special mention to the other competitors who travelled from all around Australia to compete, along with second place competitors Kazuto and crew Kimihiko Imamura from Japan.
Mathew and Will are currently sailing in a development camp at Southport Yacht Club’s Hollywell Sailing Squadron until the end of March, where they get ready to travel to Southern France where they will be competing in the next stage of the Sailing World Cup, on their London to Rio campaign.
Southport Yacht Club wish Mathew and Will all the best on their Rio campaign, and we look forward to seeing Mathew and Will back on our shores soon.
