Welcome to the 2024 Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race!


Southport Yacht Club is excited to host Australia’s NEWEST ocean race, the 2024 Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race.

The event will be held on Thursday, 1st August 2024.

Escape the winter chills and take on the adventure of a 520nm Ocean Yacht Race which will be conducted on the Tasman & Coral Sea’s along the Queenland’s coastline from Surfers Paradise to Mackay. The yacht race is open to four (4) divisions: Fully Crewed Division, Cruising Division, Double Handed Division and 50% Crewed Division.

An Early Bird Entry Fee of $550 applies for the payment received by the 10th of May 2024. Entry fee payments made after this date will be $795. There’s an additional $45 fee per crew member.

Southport Yacht Club’s sailing headquarters are located on the Gold Coast Broadwater, one of Australia’s most dynamic boating playgrounds. The respected sailing academy offers its own private beach adjoining a secure and spacious grassed area to rig up your boat and wheel it straight into the water where you are likely to be greeted by the pod of resident dolphins and the occasional shy dugong.




Established in 1946, Southport Yacht Club’s purpose is to provide excellent facilities for those persons interested in boating and its associated activities, or simply wish to unwind from the daily grind in a unique, relaxed atmosphere.

With three facilities at Main Beach, Hollywell and Dux Anchorage on South Stradbroke Island, Southport Yacht Club is known worldwide for its exceptional sailing and powerboat activities producing many world and Olympic champions.

Facilities include a learn to sail academy, 300 berths award-winning marina and hardstand, waterfront dining, function centre, world-first Waterscape pontoon bar, gymnasium and much more.
