ADULT SOCIAL SAILING SATURDAYS
No experience required!
Whether you’re new to the sport or an avid sailor come down to the lake for a sail this Saturday in our open group social session.
When: Weekly on Saturdays, 12pm-3pm (3hr session) BOOK HERE
Cost: $70 per person
Age: Minimum 18+ (there is no maximum age, but a minimal level of fitness is essential. Sailing is an active vehicle sport)
Boats Used:
Participants can choose between sailing a Hobie Wave Catamaran or RS Quest Dinghy.
No experience is required to sail the Hobie Wave Catamaran.
It is recommended participants complete the Adult Learn to Sail Beginners course to sail the RS Quest Dinghy.
ADULT LEARN TO SAIL BEGINNERS (16+)
Southport Yacht Club is dedicated to sharing the joy and freedom of sailing with the wider community.
The Beginners Learn to Sail course is our way of introducing new sailors to the sport and lifestyle in a safe, social, and non-competitive manner. The course is catered to both novice and intermediate sailors. Whether you have no prior experience and wish to enter the world of sailing, or have sailed before but would like to refresh and improve your current skills. Our highly experienced instructors teach this course in the club’s dinghy boats following the Australian Sailings certified training syllabus, Start Sailing 1 & 2.
The course aim is to have all sailors confident and comfortable to purchase their own boat and safely operate it independently.

LEARN TO SAIL INTERMEDIATE
Improve on skills developed in the Beginners course, learn the fundamentals of racing and how to launch the Spinnaker in this 2-day intensive.
The course aims to prepare sailors for racing and more technical sailing.

FAMILY FUN SAILING
Boats are easy to sail, no sailing or swimming experience is required!
Participants will be taught the essentials of sailing and escorted around the lake by a qualified instructor.
Lifejackets are mandatory and provided!
Fortnightly on Saturdays.
3hr Session with an Instructor.
No experience required! Ages 5+.
Up to 5 participants per boat.
$100 per boat.

SHE SAILS OXENFORD

Cost: $60 per person
All Females 14+ welcome! (some months ages 7yrs+, check booking page)
Basic theory followed by 1-1.5hrs on-water sailing with an instructor, and finishing with a social (Complimentary drink and nibbles)

Private lessons run at $160 for 2 hours for Non-Members and $130 for 2hrs for Members.
Private lessons run Tuesday – Sunday from 9 am – 2 pm

KEELBOAT SESSIONS
Have you ever wanted to Sail on a Yacht but don’t know where to start?
Keelboat Sessions introduce participants to sailing on small keelboats in the Gold Coast Broadwater guided by a Qualified Instructor. You’ll sail on either a Melges 24 or Blazer 23 with up to 5 crew. The aim of these sessions is to gain exposure and build on existing sailing knowledge and skills in busy tidal waterways. Grab some friends and enjoy the experience!

It is required that participants complete the Adult Learn to Sail Beginners (Start Sailing 1 & 2) course or equivalent

Introductory KeelboatA fundamental guide to Keelboat Sailing
Note:
It is important to know that this is not a relaxing “drink your champagne and enjoy the view” sailing experience….there are no refreshments on board, and you WILL be required to participate in sailing activities. A Moderate Level of Fitness is Required! – you may get wet, you may get cold and you may get addicted to this sport – so be warned.
KEELBOAT CREWING & HELMING
Ages 16+
This combined course introduces participants to sailing on small keelboats focusing on crewing and helming, sailing on either a Melges 24 or Blazer 23. The aim of the course is to develop and build on existing sailing knowledge and skills in busy tidal waterways.
The course is recommended for those with prior sailing experience, or who have completed the Beginners Learn to Sail course (Start Sailing 1 & 2)

KEELBOAT SKIPPER
(Keel Boat Scheme) For Adults 16years and older
Southport Yacht Club offers a two-day Australian Sailing advanced course under the Keelboat scheme for those wishing to operate their own Keelboat or Trailable Yacht with a crew of your own. The aim of this course is to advance your sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable you to skipper unsupervised in sheltered waters. Participants must have completed the Keelboat Crewing & Helming Course.
There are currently no course dates scheduled for 2023. Courses will begin in 2024.

BOOKING PROCEDURE: Adult courses are for those from 16 years of age. All courses are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments in order to proceed and early bookings are strongly advised to avoid disappointment. In the event that a scheduled session is abandoned due to weather alternative sessions will be scheduled at no extra cost, “Catch up sessions” will not be available due to each course being limited.
REFUND POLICY: In the event that a client unilaterally withdraws from a booked course, we reserve the right to withhold all or part of any fees paid. Alternatively a client may transfer their payment towards another course if we are able to fill their position on the course. If less than 14 days notice is given of intention to withdraw we reserve the right to withhold the payed 50% Deposit.
