SYDNEY GOLD COAST YACHT RACE UPDATE
The Sailing Office Team have just returned from a 3 day huge sailing event at the “Big House” (aka Main Beach), undertaking Race Management duties, as a part of our Agreement with Cruising Yacht Club Australia, to welcome back the annual Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race after it’s 2 year hiatus.
We welcomed a total of 60+ yachts arriving 24/7 over the 3 days. At one stage we had approx. 20 yachts arriving within a space of 3 hours and the Radio Room was ‘full on’ with Office, Rib, Seaway and Marina Communications – Karen (call sign “Switch B#@ch”) was a true Pro!
Every vessels Offshore Finish Time was recorded and monitored, so that our SYC Ribs (manned by the legendary SYC Volunteers), could be dispatched for crew retrievals (for the bigger boats who were heading North) and every other vessel (50+) were safely and individually provided a guided Rib escort into their allocated Marina Berth (from Super Yacht to Mega Yacht and all Arms in between). All boats were welcomed via Marina Buggy (call sign ‘Buggy Girl’), with an SYC smile and directions to hot showers and a meal plus… every Yacht was gifted a slab of XXXX in exchange for their Trackers.
To add to the mayhem and excitement, we had Media, Sponsors and VIP commitments – all managed and co-ordinated (on top of all of their other duties) by Steve (call sign “Eddy Everywhere”) and Simon (call sign “Boss Man”). – We can’t wait for next year and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our Members and regular Divisional Racers for their patience during this time – WE ARE BACK!
OVER AND OUT!
