This week at Oxenford we held our last week of youth learn to sail programs where all participants were able to ‘bring a friend’ and encourage their parents to join in the fun. Despite the light wind conditions, our instructors filled the day with lots of games and competitions followed by a certificate ceremony and bbq to finish. Everyone had a fantastic time and we look forward to welcoming our youth sailors back for our school holiday program and for Term 3 courses.
Our monthly She Sails was fortunate to get a steady 10kts of wind on Sunday, and with Winter setting in our numbers were lower than usual but that just meant our ladies were fortnate to receive some more one on one instruction.
The next event will be celebrating Christmas in July, so if you’re keen to come along, click the below link:

SAILOR of the WEEK
Congratulations to Aston Elliot who is our Sailor of the Week. Aston was inspired to start sailing when his dad showed him videos of the sport. He became hooked after experiencing the freedom that comes with being alone on the water. Aston has completed Tackers 1, 2 & 3 and is now part of the Junior Fleet at Hollywell, training to start racing soon.
Aston’s long-term goal is to compete internationally including the Olympics, Sydney to Hobart and the America’s Cup. He loves the competitive side of sailing but also the social aspect of meeting more people and the serenity of being a solo sailor.
At the moment he is working on strengthening his skills in an open water environment including honing tacking and jibes. Well done Aston, we look forward to supporting your progress on your sailing journey.
