Goodwill Cup 2021
On November 6, 2021, in near-perfect Moreton Bay conditions, our 14-strong team of SYC vessels contested the Goodwill Cup.
The team fared credibly winning prizes for 1st and 5th places in the GPS Division, and 3rd in Traditional Division, but overall we were unable to lift the Goodwill Cup from RQYS.
Scoring for the Goodwill Cup saw the placings for the Top 5 boats in each division added (not the actual timed results), prior to adding the division totals to determine the overall result.
In the GPS division, SYC’s top 5 placings were 1,5,6,9 and 12 for a total of 33. RQYS scored 24.
Congratulations to MIA for the outright GPS win, and Three Sheets for placing 5th. Special mention must go to a few of our new navigators on Manhattan, Margaret J and Between Tides, who rounded out the SYC GPS results.
In the Traditional division, SYC’s top 5 placings were 3,9,10,11 and 12, for a total of 45. RQYS scored 18. Congratulations to Sapphire for 3rd place in the division.
Overall RQYS scored 42, SYC 78, so a comprehensive win for RQYS.
