INVITATION TO JOIN OUR FLOTILLA
TO SEE SYC’S XAVIER DOERR SAFELY OFF ON HIS “LITTLE AUSSIE LAP”
This Sunday May 29, 21 ye
ar old Gold Coaster, Xavier Doerr, will commence The Little Aussie Lap, a Solo Non Stop Unassisted Circumnavigation of Australia in his 21ft race yacht, WATERLINE, and attempt to beat the World Speed Sailing Record and Guiness World Record as the fastest and smallest racing yacht to do this.
Details: From 8.30am, Xavier Doerr will prepare his yacht, WATERLINE, and depart Southport Yacht Club, making his way through the Broadwater and then through the Seaway in preparation for the start of The Little Aussie Lap.
The race will commence at 10am with the offshore start line being between the end of the Sand Pumping Jetty and SYC’s Start Boat.
Members of the Flotilla are asked to assemble near the southern side of the offshore Start Line or wait for him in the Broadwater, north of the 40 knot speed sign near Seaworld. With a forecast of a light westerly breeze and an outgoing tide through the seaway it is very important that the Flotilla gives WATERLINE plenty of room, especially in the confined channels of our Broadwater. All on water communications will be made to the Flotilla via VHF09. Please also remember to ensure you give way to all Commercial traffic.
You can follow Xavier’s record attempt through his live tracker at: www.thelittleaussielap.com/tracker
