Well done to SYC Opti sailors Jozee Fowler & Mariella Brady at the 2025 Wivenhoe Winter Marathon hosted by Brisbane Valley Sailing Club.
A 1st for Jozee & 2nd for Mariella in Division 6. Well done young ladies!

CORAL SEA BLUE WATER POINTSCORE SERIES
Southport Yacht Club has launched a blue water pointscore, combining four of our special events into an overall annual series! Earning a fantastic perpetual trophy, the Coral Sea Pointscore Series Winner will be determined by the lowest IRC points score result over the series, with scores accumulated over the four races with one race drop. The four races included in the 2025/2026 season are:
Flat Rock Yacht Race, 66nm, – May 24, 2025 GCCM Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race, 520nm, Aug 1 2025 Cook Island yacht Race, 35nm, – Nov 2, 2025 Julian Rocks Yacht Race, 85nm, – Mar 14 2026

Sailing at Oxenford – Week 9 by Ashlea Kernahan
With just one week to go before the holidays begin, things were still in full swing at Oxenford over the weekend!
On Saturday and Sunday, we ran our Adult Intermediate Sailing Course, welcoming a group of returning sailors ready to take the next step. With spinnakers flying and racing drills in action, this group took on more advanced boat handling and tactical challenges. It was fantastic to see familiar faces back on the water and pushing themselves to the next level. Behind the scenes, our instructors and admin team are now finalising preparations for the School Holiday Sailing Program, which kicks off next week. The fleet is ready, the instructors are briefed, and we’re all set for two weeks of fun, learning, and adventure on the lake.
Sailor of the Week – Sharni McKinnon (Tackers 2)
This week we’re celebrating Sharni McKinnon from our Tackers 2 group! Sharni has shown steady progress throughout the term and continues to show determination and maturity on the water. She listens carefully, supports her peers, and always gives her best effort. Amazing work, Sharni!
